From Ordinary to Extraordinary

In this assignment we used Photoshop to manipulate an ordinary photo and make it into something really interesting.

This was the original photo I took:

And this is the same photo after a little work was done to it:

Thanksgiving Weekend

This Thanksgiving I was home for the weekend. The night before Thanksgiving it rained so when I woke up the trees, leaves, and birdfeeders around my house were covered with ice. I thought that this would make an interesting photo opportunity.

Use of Light

In class we used a flashlight to outline and bring detail to an object of our choice. I used Gumby as my model.

This was the first try.

In this picture the light was concentrated too long in one spot causing the washout effect.

This was the final picture I took. The light was being moved around causing a cool design in the background.

Taste of Georgetown

This past weekend, I went to the Taste of Georgetown to sample some food from the local restaurants. I took pictures of some of the food that I sampled.

With the original picture (to the left) I took, the white plate and whipped cream were a little washed out. So using Photoshop I was able to darken up the plate (to the right) so it wasn't as bright.

This picture was taken at the Taste of Georgetown looking out over the river.

Black and White Photos

I took this photo at one of the home football games. I then worked in Photoshop
and turned it into a black and white picture.

I took this picture for a class assignment but really liked the image. I liked the rust on the pipe and liked the way it looked in black and white.

Working With Layers

This was the original photo I took.

Then, working in photoshop, I was able to create layers to allow for an almost all black and white photo with a little bit of color.

Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Garden

I really liked the color of the plant.

This was my first attempt at aperture. Its not a great aperture shot but I still like it.

I like the colors and shadow of the blooming flower in the water.

The lily pads in the background were so cool. They were huge and I felt like I could have stood on them. I also really liked the two flowers.
